Can you believe it? Today marks the 500th edition of our beloved Email Weekly! A half-decade of developer experiments, wild code and mind-boggling creativity.
From humble beginnings as a tiny seed planted by our visionary founder, Elliot, Email Weekly has blossomed into a full-blown digital garden. Under the watchful eye of our marketing wizard, Bex, it's become a playground for our coders, strategists, copywriters, and creatives. A lush space to run wild. A safe haven to test out the weirdest, wildest, and most wonderful ideas without fear of failure.
And let's just say, we really have done that.
Hyperlinks incoming, just roll over the text to see….
Over the years, we've covered everything from the design questions you were too afraid to ask, to the code queries you wish you hadn’t. We've identified the exact location of ‘above the fold’, counted down to Christmas in work/life hacks, and displayed our subscriber love in a shower of donuts. Once, we took such a giant leap for email design, we landed on the moon.
We've experimented with some truly interactive emails, and simple, but spooky ones, and elfed ourselves for experimental code. We've laughed, we've cried, and we've definitely cringed a few times. But through it all, we've had a blast.
EmailWeekly#001, Pixel Burgers, Images off + Email of Things, was a simple text-based design, anchoring to our take on the latest trends in design and code and what rocked our inbox. By EmailWeekly#500, you’re looking at a fully interactive showcase of strategy, code, copy and design, that pushes the boundaries of what's possible.
Here are just a few more of our faves:
The one where Pokémon took over: An exploration of Pokémon Go and its meteoric rise. Was it, or not, going to take over the world?
The one with 300 links: No more, no less, but nonetheless, all very insightful, interesting and inspiring.
The one where we celebrated Wordle: Our take on the world’s obsession with this humble word game. Still doing it every Sunday morning?
As we look back on 500 weeks of pure email gold, we wonder what the next 500 will bring. Will we finally crack the code on the perfect email subject line? Will we invent a new form of interactive email that blows everyone’s mind? Or will we simply continue to entertain ourselves with increasingly bizarre experiments?
One thing’s for sure: the future of Email Weekly is brighter than a supernova. So, buckle up, grab a snack, and let’s ride this digital rollercoaster together to 500 more! If you haven’t signed up yet? Don’t miss out—join the adventure right here: Email Weekly sign-up.
