It’s been a big month for big events in the UK, so we have some aptly themed emails in our top picks for July. Whether for a bit of silly fun or to help engage young people to vote, brands jumped on the general election and Euros with style. We’ve also been impressed by some supreme storytelling. But first, let’s kick off with an example of perfect personalisation….
1. Astrid & Miyu
SL: [Name], get 15% off* your Story Chain®
Chosen for: Personalisation
We did a double-take when we opened this email from Astrid & Miyu. The hero image featuring the recipient’s name on a pretty, delicate necklace is quite something, and with the entire thread being about tailor-making your own, it makes it stand out all the more. The question is… what is this sorcery?! Well, if you’d like to achieve similarly stunning personalisation in your emails, drop us a line and we’ll help make it happen.
2. Etsy
SL: 🧡 KEEP COMMERCE HUMAN 🧡
Chosen for: Copy and design
From the memorable subject line and hero imagery to the sensitively written copy, the storytelling weaves its way intricately, but clearly through this email from Etsy. We love how each element complements the others; the hero animation of the taglines connects the reader to the featured sellers below, each with a quote that further strengthens the theme. It’s a delight to behold.
3. Fussy
SL: THE BO BALLOT IS OPEN 🗳️💪
Chosen for: Themed content
This email landed in our inboxes the day before the general election, bringing a welcome, lighthearted take on the big event. The hilarious graphics feature zany characters and the Fussy deodorant case as the podiums. These, combined with the silly but clever copy, result in a brilliant candidate that definitely has our vote.
4. Lime
SL: Election Day is today!
Chosen for: Collab and themed content
We love this partnership between Lime and Give an X, offering the reader free 15-minute rides to the polling station. Both the email and the landing page it links to are directional, clear and to the point - exactly what’s needed to engage its intended audience of the younger demographic.
5. McDonald’s
SL: Tonight, only one thing is certain… 👀
Chosen for: Design and themed content
Remember the Euros final? The other big event in July, but one that united rather than divided the English nation. Sadly McDonald’s subject line was all too accurate so they did well to avoid the full IT’S COMING HOME messaging, but rather balance it nicely with the fact that watching the match with one of their meals is the only dead cert. And we love the shirt design that mimics the burger in the hero. Back of the net!
